BAMIT DOES OLD FASHION GATHERING “CATCH-UP” LUNCHEON IN HOUSTON

Attending (from left to right) Cordelia Price SB '78, SM '82, Jerryl Payne SB ’74, Vanessa L. Sanders (Guest), Dr. Samuel Denard SB ’74, Yolanda (“Jinx”) Hinton SB '77, SM '80, and Rev. Samuel Nixon Jr. SB ’77 (not pictured).

On Monday, August 10th, a contingent of BAMIT members rendezvoused at the Red Lobster Restaurant in Houston, Tx for a luncheon gathering to “catch-up” on a number of years that had passed since some of us had seen one another! On the occasion of Sam Nixon's travel to Houston to participate in the retirement celebration weekend of a friend and colleague in Houston, as a BAMIT Board Member and Chairperson of our Outreach and Engagement Committee, he reached out to the local Houston BAMIT Members to meet and discuss BAMIT matters and opportunities for their greater participation, as well as how each of them were doing in these post-MIT days!

They discussed a wide range of topics in their talk over the table! Their old and recent memories of Institute events and activities, physical and health status, travels, families, BAMIT engagement(s), and fellow alums that they’d seen and/or not seen, were all discussed, amidst their laughter and their sorrows! Overall, it was a most fruitful and warm engagement of alums who shared portions of their various stories and looked forward to staying in contact more often! And ALL alums were invited to continue their contributions of time, talents, and financial resources to support the continued growth of BAMIT!

As they finished the breaking of bread, settlement of bills, and the blessings that they all had to convey, they hugged, bid one another safe journeys to their next destinations, and left looking forward to the next occasion to gather! Let’s shout-out to our Houston alums!
