Dear BAMIT Family,

It’s an election year for BAMIT, and we’re excited to invite you—our vibrant and growing community—to help shape the future of our organization. We are now accepting nominations for the BAMIT Board of Directors. Nominees must be members in good standing with Regular or Life membership status. Directors will serve a two‑year term from September 2026 through August 2028.

If you would like to nominate a fellow BAMIT member—or self‑nominate—please download and complete the NOMINATIONS FORM by Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Completed forms should be submitted to [email protected] by close of business on that date.

BAMIT’s impact continues to grow. Our programs have expanded, our reach has deepened, and our community engagement is stronger than ever. With that growth comes the need for more hands, more leadership, and more voices at the table. We are especially seeking Board members with interest or experience in:

  • External Nominations
  • Fundraising
  • Program Management (planning and executing programs for our BAMIT community)
  • Research Slams
  • Speaker Programs / Panel Discussions
  • Black Graduate Celebration
  • Tech Reunion
  • Membership Outreach

The BAMIT Board includes 16 Director positions, and we are looking for committed individuals who can dedicate their time and talents to this important work. Board service includes monthly Zoom meetings, participation in at least one Board Committee, and attendance at our annual Board Retreat held during the MIT Alumni Leadership Conference (ALC) each September. The estimated time commitment is 7–10 hours per month, and we work hard to keep responsibilities manageable for our volunteer leaders.

For a full description of Board responsibilities and committees, please review the BAMIT Bylaws.

Why step forward? Why nominate someone—or yourself?

  • You can directly influence the experience and academic success of today’s Black students at MIT.
  • You can be the encouraging voice that helps a talented young person choose MIT.
  • You can join a team of dedicated alumni who are elevating BAMIT’s presence, programs, and impact.
  • You can “give back” and “pay it forward” in a meaningful way—with a time commitment that fits into a busy life.

BAMIT thrives on fresh energy, new ideas, and the passion of alumni who care deeply about our community. Your participation in this nomination process is essential to keeping that momentum strong.

To nominate a BAMIT member—or to self‑nominate—please download and complete the NOMINATIONS FORM and submit it to [email protected] by COB Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Thank you for considering this important opportunity to contribute your leadership, your voice, and your commitment to BAMIT.

Warmly,

Rosita C. Parker ’75, SM ’76

 Election Chair, BAMIT Nominations Committee
